had my brother pluck him from just below my shoulder blade last week....As i mentioned in another thread. My mother has been quite ill (worse than we thought actually)I;vebeen spending basically any free time I have making the 180 mile drive. while she was napping I went down to the creek behind the house to collect some willow wythes for a quick basket... I've spent countless hours down there in my youth and have never gotten a tick. 5 minutes and bam. Anyway I saved the tick..sent it to the lab, and thankfullyit was negative.. I prefer to do it that way as opposed to the 10days of doxycycline (been through that a few times.)
any way the experience got me thinking about the fact that although ticks have always been a part of outdoor life, how lately they do seem to be more prevalent. so I'm devising a new technique for employment only in areas where my appearance doesn;t matter.
I bought a coverall flight suit, and treated it with permethrin, It's light, wears well over underwear or light regular clothes.. and once tucked into the socks.. offers almost no access to the body..We'll see how it works out, and how often I use it if at all, I definintely won't win any style points... LOL... I know it won;t replace a good post woods body check but every lil bit helps
